Why our lifestyle edit stays small

Lifestyle is the category where it is easiest to stock everything and hardest to stock well. We choose the opposite. Rather than a wall of candles and creams, we carry the pieces we would light, wear and give ourselves, and we go deep on the houses that earn it.

Why choose a Trudon or Santa Maria Novella candle over a supermarket one?

Because the difference is in the wax and the burn, not the label. A Trudon candle is poured in France from a vegetable wax blend that burns cleanly and evenly, with a scent throw that fills a room without turning synthetic as it warms. It is the small luxury that changes a whole evening, and it is the piece we most often light in the boutique when we open up for the day.

What makes Santa Maria Novella worth it, and why do so many people fall for the pot pourri?

Santa Maria Novella has been made by the same Florentine apothecary since 1612, using recipes that predate almost everything else on your shelf. The pot pourri is the one people come back for. It is hand-cured from Tuscan hills botanicals and it will quietly scent a hallway or a drawer for years, not weeks. It is the kind of thing you buy once and then buy again for everyone you know.

How do I choose between all the candles, waters and skincare?

Start with where it will live. A candle or room spray for a room you want to feel a certain way, a floral water like rose or orange blossom for the bathroom shelf and skin, a soap or night oil for daily ritual. If you are unsure, tell us the room or the person and we will point you to the right one. We would rather you buy one piece you love than three you are unsure about.
