Frapin belongs to my fragrance world, chosen as an independent master house for its craft rather than its marketing. It carries the Polperro spirit I love most, a sense of site and season held in a bottle.
The family have been makers in the Charente since 1270, twenty generations tending vines and ageing cognac in oak. That same patience and terroir feed the perfumes, which carry the warm woody memory of the barrel rather than anything invented for a shelf.
One detail tells you everything about the house. The writer Francois Rabelais was born into the Frapin family, and the fragrance L'Humaniste is made in his honour. This is a house that keeps its own history close and lets it do the talking.
