The knit that began it all

POL is an Australian label founded in 2008 by the designer Sam Jones. It began with a small collection of knitwear, and knit still sits at the centre of every season.

The house works with factories it has known for years and sources its yarns and fabrics ethically where it can. Its rule is simple: if it does not feel good, it does not get made. You notice that first in the hand of the knits.

Each collection is made in limited quantities and not restocked once it sells through. A knit over a print dress, a tailored short in the warmer weeks. Pieces that travel and settle into a wardrobe.

POL is cut in Australian sizes. An XS is an AU 8, S an AU 10 and M an AU 12. Bust, waist and hip measurements and the house's knit care are in our POL size guide.

Who is POL?

An Australian womenswear label founded in 2008 by designer Sam Jones. It began with a small collection of knitwear and grew into a full ready-to-wear collection carried by boutiques across Australia and New Zealand.

Questions, answered

What is POL sizing in Australian sizes?

POL is cut in Australian sizes, the same as UK sizes, from 6 to 18. Letter sizes convert as XXS an AU 6, XS an AU 8, S an AU 10, M an AU 12, L an AU 14 and XL an AU 16. Body measurements are in our POL size guide.

What are the POL body measurements?

For a size 10 or S, bust 93cm, waist 76cm and hip 102cm. For a 12 or M, bust 98cm, waist 81cm and hip 107cm. The house's models generally wear a size 8.

How do I wash POL knitwear?

Hand wash in cool water with a gentle or delicates detergent. POL advises against woolwash, which can make dyes run. Roll the knit in a towel, reshape it and dry it flat in the shade. Store it folded, never on a hanger.

Will my POL knit pill?

Some pilling is normal on natural fibres such as cotton, merino and cashmere, mostly where a bag or jacket rubs. Hand washing and a pilling shaver keep it under control.

Does POL restock?

No. Each collection is made in limited quantities and not restocked once it sells through.
