Lubin is part of my fragrance world for a simple reason. It is an independent historic house that has survived on craft rather than marketing. That is the company I want to keep.
The house was founded in Paris in 1798 by Pierre-Francois Lubin, who had trained under Jean-Louis Fargeon, the perfumer to Marie Antoinette. It went on to scent the courts of Europe, then almost disappeared through the last century.
It was brought back from the brink by Gilles Thevenin, once creation director at Guerlain. Its scents are made again in small quantities in the Loire valley. That is the Polperro spirit exactly, an independent master kept alive because the work deserves it.

Where is Lubin made?
Lubin is made in France. After the house was revived in the early 2000s, production returned to France and the fragrances are now made in small quantities in the Loire valley.
What is the difference between eau de parfum and eau de toilette?
Eau de parfum carries a higher concentration of fragrance oils, so it sits closer to the skin and lasts longer, while eau de toilette is lighter and fresher on the day. In our Lubin edit Gin Fizz is an eau de toilette and the others are eau de parfum.
