Christian Kimber Weekender Bag, Chocolate

Side-release buckles pull a half-empty weekender in and let a full one out, so the bag keeps its shape at either end of a trip.

It is handmade in Milan by a family-owned workshop established in 1895. The leather is a chocolate weave-stamped nubuck from a tannery in Santa Croce sull'Arno, in Tuscany, that has worked since 1976. The lining is a Prince of Wales check woven by a Florentine mill exclusively for Christian Kimber.

The rest is about how it travels. Leather handles long enough to go over a shoulder. A wide zip opening. A zipped pocket inside and another outside. A strap that slides over the handle of a roller case. The base is where a weekender gives out first, on platforms and car boots and hotel floors, so Christian Kimber reinforced it with leather and studs and the bag stands on the studs rather than the leather.

Friday it leaves the city full. Sunday it comes back fuller, with a bottle from the way home rolled in a jumper. The buckles let out to take it. The Business Tote in the same chocolate is the bag for the week in between.
