Signature shapes, made by hand
Marmoset Found began in 2010 with two neighbours, Cherie Slater and Nareen Holloway, who met in a local park over a shared eye for homewares.
Before the first range they spent six months travelling through Japan, the Philippines, India, Vietnam and Thailand looking for makers. Most of the workshops they work with are small family businesses. The founders set the colour palette for each collection with the artisans directly.
Every piece has a handmade element and most are entirely handmade. Hand cast glass and porcelain vary a little in wall and edge, so no two vases are quite the same. The founders have said plainly that they are not interested in mass production.
I carry Marmoset Found because the shapes hold their own on a shelf with no flowers in them. The Opal Ball, the Ribbed Infinity and the Profile are recognisable from across a room, in colours that change with the season.
The ribbed porcelain candle holders in ochre and leaf sit beside our candles. The glass vases want a short stem or nothing at all.
