Far enough away to run her own race

Zoe Kratzmann's mother was a seamstress. She learned on her mother's machine, and the label comes straight out of that, a child who knew how a garment was put together long before she knew what a collection was.

She started in 2005 and designs from the Sunshine Coast, a long way from Sydney and Melbourne. She has said that sitting outside the fashion centres is what lets them run their own race. The design team is two people. The whole business is eight.

It shows in the work. Small runs, never more than are needed. Prints drawn for the label rather than bought in. Shapes cut to hold a line instead of chasing one, and shoes made to be walked in rather than carried home.

It is made to be lived in. A Memo top under the Crest jacket, the Gesture pant with a Degree boot, the Altitude dress on its own when the day asks for less.
