Charlotte Blakeney spent twenty years as a makeup artist before she made a single piece of jewellery. The label began in the mountains above Ubud in 2012, on a trip, surrounded by lotus flowers, with five thousand dollars in savings and no experience of the trade.
The lotus starts at the bottom of a pond and pushes up through the water before it opens. She wanted something you could wear that said beauty comes out of dark places. The necklace took two years to draw.
Everything since comes back to that piece. Stones chosen for what they mean rather than what they weigh, mantras set into the metal, and a reason behind each design rather than a season behind it.

By Charlotte is designed in Sydney by founder Charlotte Blakeney and her in-house team, and made with certified manufacturing partners. Pieces are crafted in 18k gold vermeil over sterling silver, solid 925 sterling silver and 14k solid gold.
What is gold vermeil?
Gold vermeil is sterling silver coated with a thick layer of 18-carat gold, at least 2.5 microns, which makes it far more durable and longer lasting than standard gold plating. It is By Charlotte's signature finish across much of the collection.
