Eight & Bob belongs to the fragrance world I have built at Amelie & Frank's. I chose it the way I choose everything here, for its craft and its story rather than the noise of a big-house launch. It has the independent, characterful spirit I love in the Polperro world.
The house traces itself to the summer of 1937, when a young Parisian named Albert Fouquet shared a cologne he had blended himself with an American student holidaying on the French Riviera. The student, John F Kennedy, wrote back asking for eight samples and, if production allowed, one more for Bob. That line gave the house its name.
When war came, the formulas were hidden inside hollowed books to keep them safe, which is why every bottle still arrives concealed in one today. I find that detail says everything about Eight & Bob. Quiet, considered and made to be discovered rather than shouted about.
