The one cashmere label I cannot do without

Cashmere is the staple I care most about every winter. World of Nomads is my absolute favourite. It is so on point it is almost ridiculous: luxe and quietly sexy, stylish, classic and classy, then funky as hell.

It is a small Australian design team working in natural fibres, from lux cashmere to the softest cashmere and angora blends. The pieces are made slowly to be worn for years rather than a single season. A little shedding and pilling in the early wears is simply the fibres relaxing; with true cashmere it is a sign of the real thing.

There is a genuine cult following for the drops, which are ordered a year in advance. Before each collection lands we send our VIP customers a first look so they can place pre-sale orders. At least three quarters of every year's collection sells before it reaches the floor. If you love cashmere I would warmly invite you to join our pre-sale list so you see it first.

It is known for luxe cashmere knitwear that is classic and quietly sexy then unexpectedly funky. The collections have a cult following and much of each drop sells on pre-sale before it arrives in store.

Questions, answered

What is cashmere?

The undercoat of the cashmere goat, combed out by hand in spring. The fibre is far finer than sheep's wool, which is why it gives warmth without weight and sits against the skin without itching.

How do I care for cashmere?

Wash it by hand in cool water or on a wool cycle, dry it flat and rest it a day between wears. Store it folded rather than hung, and a comb takes care of any pilling.

Why does cashmere travel well?

It packs down to almost nothing, it regulates temperature between climates and it resists creasing better than you would expect. It is the piece that handles a cold plane without a coat.

How do the collection drops and pre-sale work?

Each World of Nomads collection is ordered a year in advance and arrives as a single drop. Before it lands we email our clients first, so pieces are often spoken for before they reach the floor.
