The heel is timber, cut round and left to show its grain. Wood is not uniform, so no two pairs carry quite the same one.

Woven leather across the upper picks up the same natural register. A fine ankle strap crosses behind the heel and adjusts, which is what keeps the foot secure on a five centimetre heel.

Leather lined and leather soled. Canyon against linen through summer. At a winery lunch that moves from the terrace down to the cellar and back, the crossed strap holds the foot on the stairs.

Fit. True to size. Woven leather gives a little across the foot as it wears, so take your usual size rather than going up.
