What the yarn does
Vaenn works almost entirely in fine knit, and the yarn is the design. Mercerised merino, superfine Australian merino, Donegal cashmere, Lenzing modal. Nothing here is carried by a print or a trim.
Mercerising holds the fibre under tension through the finishing so it swells and takes a lustre closer to silk than to wool. On a sheer knit that means the fabric changes depth as it moves instead of sitting flat, and a melange yarn multiplies it again.
The one shoulder pieces are the hardest thing they make. A sheer knit has no structure anywhere to hold the weight, so it wants to pull to the low side. The stretch in the merino recovers instead of dragging.
Cut close and light enough to layer under anything, and finished well enough not to have to.
