Trudon Fir Great Candle 2.8kg, 2024 Edition

Leather is the first note in Fir, ahead of the pine. It makes the scent a room with a tree in it, where most fir candles are only the tree.

Siberian pine and fir arrive with it. Gaiac wood, Chinese cedar and myrrh make the heart. Ambergris, Spanish cistus, incense absolute and patchouli hold the base, so the resin outlasts the green.

This is the 2024 edition. Trudon took its theme from the balls and masquerades Louis XV held at Versailles, the Bal des Ifs in the Hall of Mirrors among them. The décor was worked with Serdar Gülgün. Stylised chandeliers, pendants and curtains are marked in hot gold on the outside with the coat of arms of the Royal Manufactory. A chandelier and the designer's signature are on the back. The inside is lined with 24-carat gold leaf. The glass under all that gold is fired in Vinci for sixteen to twenty-four hours.

Five wicks, more than two hundred hours. Enough for more than one December. After the last of them the gold-lined glass becomes an ice bucket.
