Laurel sits at the top beside bergamot and bitter orange. A classic cologne would leave the citrus to work alone. Pot Pourri brings the hillside in from the first minute.
Lavender, thyme, rosemary and clove make the heart. Cedarwood, patchouli and balsam of Peru hold the base. The Officina says it gathers the buds, leaves and petals of the Tuscan hills. It files the scent simply as aromatic. On skin the herbs come through dry, because resin and wood sit directly underneath them. It smells of dried plants in a cool stone room more than of a garden in flower.
The earliest written recipe in the Officina's archive is a 1743 manuscript by Fra Cosimo Bucelli. The same composition scents our Pot Pourri Bath Gel, where water softens it. This is the eau de cologne, 100ml, in the Firenze 1221 Edition bottle.
