Pomegranate turns up in the Song of Songs and in the Odyssey, both times as a sign of fertility and abundance. Melograno borrows the meaning and leaves the fruit's sweetness out.
Bergamot, bitter orange and fresh spices open it. A pomegranate accord sits in the heart with rose and ylang-ylang. Oakmoss, labdanum, patchouli and musk lie underneath. Santa Maria Novella class it as floral and spicy and point to Persia for its mood. For a scent named after a fruit there is very little sugar in it.
