Friedrich Freese was a German botanist. The flower named after him comes from South Africa and reached European botanical collections in the nineteenth century. It blooms in clusters of six to twelve bells, between late winter and early spring.
It is grown for a clean floral character that persists. Santa Maria Novella built Fresia on that character. A freesia accord at the top. Violet and centifolia rose absolute in the heart. Iris and musk at the base, which the house describes as floral and musky.
There is no resin in it and no spice. That is why it sits in a shared room without taking it over, where Melograno would.
