On 4 November 1966 the Arno flooded Florence. Volunteers came from across the world to pull artworks and documents out of its churches, libraries and archives. The city called them the angeli del fango, the mud angels.
Santa Maria Novella composed Angeli di Firenze for them in 2006, on the fortieth anniversary. Peach and orange at the top. A marine heart with blackcurrant and jasmine. Sandalwood, vanilla and musk at the base.
It is the cologne for the evening a change comes through, when the house is opened up after a hot day and the air coming in is cool and smells of the water.
