Santa Maria Novella Acqua della Regina Eau de Cologne 100ml

In Paris he became René le Florentin and opened the city's first perfumery. He had arrived in the retinue of Caterina de' Medici, carrying the water he composed in 1533 for her marriage to the future Henry II of France. In Florence he had been Renato Bianco, raised by the Dominican friars at Santa Maria Novella.

That water is Acqua della Regina. Santa Maria Novella count it among their oldest documented compositions. Italian citrus and petitgrain open it. Neroli, rosemary, cloves and lavender in the heart pull it from citrus towards the aromatic, which is why it does not read as a plain lemon cologne. Musk sits underneath.

It is an eau de cologne and it behaves like one. The citrus at the top is the first thing to go, so it is worn the old way: straight after a shower and again in the middle of the day.
