Rabens Saloner Fredrikka Long Dress, Granite

Viscose is spun from wood pulp and it behaves more like silk than cotton. It drops straight from the shoulder and moves a moment after you do.

Rabens Saloner is the Copenhagen label Birgitte Raben started in 2007. The Fredrikka is its long dress in 100% viscose, cut loose with nothing structural in it. In granite the cloth shows several greys at once as it falls and folds.

It was bought because a long dress that leaves the body alone is the hardest thing to find once the heat comes. It has since passed its season and been reduced.

The day it reaches forty, the blinds come down mid-morning and nobody goes out until the heat breaks after dark. This is what gets worn through it.

• Long, loose cut
• Granite
• Cold gentle machine wash or hand wash
• Dry flat in the shade

Fit. Viscose, so it falls rather than holds. Cut loose and long. Take your usual size.
