La Promeneuse does not burn its wax. It melts it. This is the flame that does the melting.
The night-light sits in the base of the brass cradle under a glass cover, with the ceramic dish and its brass spoon above. Once it is lit the scented cameo turns liquid in around ten minutes and starts to spread its perfume. One light gives about eight hours, in a single sitting or several shorter ones.
It is unscented, so the cameo is the only thing in the room. The wax is soya and copra, the wick pure cotton. La Promeneuse itself is 29 centimetres tall, made for Trudon by Pauline Deltour.
