Nasomatto Black Afgano extrait de parfum

Six years went into Black Afgano before Alessandro Gualtieri released it in 2009. His account of the aim is blunter than anything else in the house. The fragrance aims to evoke the best quality of hashish, the result of a quest to arouse the effects of temporary bliss.

It is dense. Resin, wood smoke and something green and vegetal underneath. It holds close for the first ten minutes, then opens and does not close again. Nasomatto publishes no notes, here or anywhere, so this is our reading with the bottle open.

Extrait de parfum is the highest concentration a house makes. At this density one spray is the whole instruction. Of the Nasomatto on our shelf it is the darkest.

The cap is burnt oak. On a winter morning it is too much. Once somebody lights the fire it is exactly right.
