The panels on the front of the Chitch Streets are topstitched into the jean. The seams carry load, so the detail cannot wear off the way a print would.

The Chitch is Ksubi's slim jean, mid rise and tapered so it sits close through the leg. Streets is the version with the panelling worked into the front. Black, in European cotton denim.

We bought it because a slim black jean with real construction on the front is hard to find. It is a season old and reduced, in 30, 34 and 36.

Ksubi publishes one chart for its menswear. It links each letter size to two jean sizes and to the body measurements behind them. The house gives them in inches and we have converted them to centimetres. The thing to know is that a Ksubi jean size is not your waist measurement: a 30 is cut for a 32-inch body waist, about 81cm. A 32 is cut for a 34-inch waist, about 86cm.

Body measurements, converted from the house's inches to the nearest centimetre. Tees and knits use the letter column, jeans and shorts the jean column.

Choosing between two sizes

Each Ksubi jean has its own cut, from a high-rise skinny to an oversized shape. Measure yourself against the chart and take the closest size. Where a style runs smaller or larger, the house notes it on that piece. So do we, in its Fit line.

How to measure

Chest: around the fullest part, under the arms, tape level across the back.
Waist: around the natural waist, where your trousers sit.
Hip: around the fullest part, feet together.
