Orange candles usually go sweet within the hour and stay there. Reggio is built to avoid it. Grapefruit at the top, mandarin essential oil at the heart and very little else between them.
It belongs to Les Belles Matières, the collection in which Trudon follows a rare raw material back to the place it grows. Reggio is named for Reggio in Calabria, facing the Messina Strait, where in the house's words the mandarin trees shape the landscape without a touch of bitterness.
Poured at the Trudon workshop in Normandy into glass from Vinci in Tuscany, shaped like a champagne bucket and finished by hand. The label is centred and fixed by hand too. Fifty-five to sixty hours. Burnt down, the glass keeps pens and pencils by the door.
