Chin up, proud bust, contemptuous attitude. François Girardon modelled Louis XIV on horseback at seven metres high. In 1699 the statue went up on Place Vendôme. It came down in 1792.
Trudon reproduces the king's head and shoulders in wax, 24 centimetres high, in royal blue. The busts are made with the plaster cast workshop of the Réunion des Musées Nationaux, Grand Palais.
There is a wick but the busts are made to be collected and never lit. Each comes in its own box. Marie Antoinette in rose and Napoleon in black stand beside him on our shelf.
