Wale is the width of the rib. Fine wale reads as velvet and dates quickly. Wide wale is a costume. Mid-wale is the only one that behaves like a trouser.

Woven by Drago in a cotton and wool blend and made in Portugal, which is why it has the softness of corduroy without the bulk that makes most of it unwearable indoors. The wool is what keeps the knee from bagging.

Vintage brown against navy knitwear is the whole point of owning corduroy, and a better answer than denim from about April.
