The leather is laminated gold and then crackled, so it breaks the light into pieces rather than throwing it straight back. That is the difference between a metallic bag that looks like jewellery and one that looks like foil.

The Swing is the ba&sh bag people recognise. This is the smallest version of it. Fifteen centimetres across, a crescent body that zips closed, a slip pocket inside. ba&sh make it from cowhide. A short handle sits it under the arm and a longer strap, adjustable and removable, takes it across the body.

We carry the Swing in cognac suede as well. That is the everyday one. This is the evening one. It is small enough to go inside a larger bag until it is needed.

December brings three end-of-year dinners a week. A small gold bag against black covers every one of them.
