Amelie & Frank's Cashmere Throw, Grey

A comb takes this cashmere from the goat. It collects only the soft undercoat and leaves the coarse guard hair behind. It is slower than shears and yields less. It is the difference between cashmere that softens with age and cashmere that pills.

The fibre comes from Inner Mongolia, where the winters are cold enough that the goats grow it fine. The throws were the first pieces in our own cashmere range. We started with a throw because it is the object a house gets the most out of.

In vintage the ferments are plunged by hand last thing at night. You come back across the yard at eleven, purple to the wrist and too tired to go up to bed. Grey is the one on the end of the couch.
