Marle yarn is spun from fibres of different shades, so the colour sits in the thread itself. On the Jared it gives a plain tailored cloth a surface you only notice up close.

The cloth is wool with lyocell through it. The lyocell takes weight out of the wool and keeps the drape, so a blazer cut this long still hangs like a jacket and not a coat. Sharp at the shoulder, longline, fluid from the waist down.

Acler cut the Jared pant from the same cloth. Together they make a suit. The blazer on its own goes over denim or a fine knit.

It goes over the back of the chair when the sun reaches the table. It comes back on when the sun drops behind the hill and the cold comes up off the grass.

Acler is an Adelaide label and cuts in Australian sizes, which are the same as UK sizes, so the number on the label is your Australian size. An Acler 8 is an AU and UK 8, a US 4 and an Italian 40. The measurements below are the house's own, in centimetres, taken from the body rather than the garment.

Measurements in centimetres. Body measurements, not garment measurements. The house treats its chart as a general guide and notes that some styles fit differently.

Choosing between two sizes

Acler designs by draping, so the fit changes from style to style and each piece carries the house's own note on how it sits. Where a bodice is designed to be fitted, the house recommends sizing up if you are between sizes. Its model is 175cm and wears an AU 8. Acler also gives garment measurements for a particular piece on request. We are happy to measure any piece we hold.

How to measure

Bust: around the fullest part, tape level across the back.
Waist: around the narrowest part, usually just above the navel.
Hip: around the fullest part, feet together.

Shoes

Acler shoes are labelled in European sizes. Each pair carries its own size line. We can check a pair against your usual size before you order.

Caring for Acler

Leather shoes and boots: wipe with a soft cloth to lift dust. For marks, use a damp cloth with mild soap and let them air dry away from heat. Apply a leather protector before wearing and keep them out of prolonged sun and wet weather. Store them somewhere cool and dry and condition the leather now and then so it stays supple.

For clothing, follow the care label sewn into the piece.

Hand wash cold in wool detergent, or dry clean. Reshape while damp and dry flat in the shade. Never hang it. Fold it away.
