Women's Tops

The top is the piece you reach for most, so it should earn the reach. We keep an edit of shirts, blouses, knits, vests and tees chosen for how they feel against the skin and how easily they live in a real wardrobe. Fewer things, chosen well.

What we look for in a top

A good top does quiet work. It sits under a coat in July, stands alone in February and holds its shape through both. We buy for that kind of longevity first, which means honest fabrics, considered cut and a colour you will still want next year. If a piece only works in one outfit we tend to leave it on the rail.

We would rather carry twelve tops we genuinely believe in than eighty we can only half defend. That discipline is the whole point of a curator. It means when you find something here you can trust that someone with a real eye has already asked the hard questions about fit, fabric and wear, so the choosing is lighter for you.

The names in this edit reward that approach. POL gives us the everyday silk shirts and striped knits our customers return for, Second Female brings the softer blouses and merino tees, Mes Demoiselles adds the romantic French blouses worth dressing up for and Zoe Kratzmann and Acler sharpen the tailored end.

Questions, answered

What fabrics are the tops cut in?

Silk, cotton, linen, merino and fine knit. Silk breathes, so it stays cool on a warm afternoon and warm when the wind turns, and it drapes in a way a synthetic cannot.

Which tops travel best?

A fine knit or a soft vest folds to almost nothing, shrugs off a suitcase and layers over a shirt or under a coat as the day changes. It is what we pack first.

How do I care for a silk shirt?

Hand wash cool or dry clean, and hang it damp rather than wringing it. Treated gently it lasts for years.

Do you offer complimentary shipping?

Yes, Australia-wide, wrapped and sent from Red Hill.
