What makes a piece worth keeping
We buy jewellery the way you would build a collection of your own, slowly and with a point of view. A necklace has to sit well on its own and layer with the next one. A cuff has to feel substantial in the hand. A ring has to look as good on a Tuesday as it does dressed up. If a piece only works for one occasion, it tends not to make the edit.
This is where fewer things, chosen well, shows most clearly. Rather than carry every style a brand offers, we choose the ones we would wear ourselves and wear often. It is an eye as much as an inventory, and it means what you find here has already passed the test of someone who cares how it ages.
You will see two labels lead the edit. By Charlotte brings 18k gold vermeil with meaning worked into it, the Through the Seasons pieces and the Begin Again band among them. Arms of Eve brings the easy, sun-warmed everyday gold, stone and pearl, from the Solstice necklace to the Quinn cuffs. Between them you can build a whole hand and neckline.

What is gold vermeil?
Sterling silver under a thick layer of solid gold, measured in microns. The By Charlotte pieces are 18k vermeil, which is why they hold their warmth through daily wear.
Can I wear it in the sea and the shower?
Yes. Vermeil and solid gold both handle water. Take pieces off for chlorine and perfume, and put jewellery on last.
How do I layer necklaces?
Vary the length by two or three centimetres and let one piece lead. Start with the piece you would wear on its own and build outward from there.
