Louis XIV danced as the sun in a royal ballet when he was a teenager. He kept it as his emblem for the rest of his reign. Trudon took Solis Rex from the parquetry of his Hall of Mirrors at Versailles.

Emmanuel Philip, a perfumer from Grasse and the son of a perfumer, composed it. Eucalyptus and orange at the top, fir bark at the heart, cedarwood and incense at the base. Incense runs through the conifer and the citrus cuts across it.

A cameo is the scent without the candle. It goes in the ceramic dish of La Promeneuse, the 29 centimetre diffuser Pauline Deltour designed for Trudon, over a lit night-light. The wax melts and the scent spreads quickly. Four to a box, around eight hours each.
