Keep the pattern at the front and leave the back plain, and suddenly a diamond knit is something you can wear under a jacket.

That is the only change POL has made and it is the one that matters. Argyle came off the Campbell tartan in Argyll and was knitted into diamonds by Scottish hosiers long before anybody put it on a fairway. Fine merino, neat through the body, three colours in the diamond rather than the usual two.

Heritage without the costume, which is a narrow line and this sits on the right side of it.
