One night on the French Riviera in 1937, Fouquet met a young American student; John F. Kennedy. J.F.K. was captivated by the essence that Fouquet wore, which persuaded Fouquet to leave him a sample of his fragrance at J.F.K's hotel the next morning. The note read; "In this bottle, you will find the dash of French glamour that your American personality lacks." Upon returning to America, J.F.K put in an order to Fouquet for eight bottles, with "another one for Bob."
From that point, the bottle were labelled with "Eight & Bob" and the rest is history.
